De_Glitch
Lishui Biennale, China
In the slideshow the images are never static. They are in a continuous state of glitching where they fragment into a basic grid of pixels, and then slowly combine into an almost resolved image, before going back to the pixels. Forever being in flux between digital pixels and formed images reveals the nature of the digital as data. Many human cultural activities are now mediated and controlled by these autonomous computational data algorithms. The problem is that this reduction and reinterpretation of the everyday as data is biased by the designers of the algorithms. The continuously glitching images reveals the nature of the digital picture as data which has its own covert intrusion into our everyday life.
